About This Course

Basics of Green belt

Basic Lean Tools and Techniques

Define

Describe the significance of the Define Phase

Identify a Six Sigma project

Describe the sources for Six Sigma project ideas

  • VOC
  • VOB
  • VOE
  • VOP
  • COPQ

Describe the issues to be considered while selecting a project.

Create a Project Charter

  • Project Definition
  • Team Selection
    • Conflict Resolution
  • Financial Considerations

MEASURE

  • Define the performance standards for ‘y’ selected in Define phase
  • Define defects and opportunity for your project
  • Validate the measurement system using Gage R&R
  • Characterize the baseline data using mean and standard deviation
  • Establish Baseline

ANALYSE

  • Identify causes using FMEA and Hypothesis testing.
  • Determine when it is appropriate to use specific tools in hypothesis testing. These tools include:
  • Perform hypothesis testing for a continuous Y and discrete X.
    • Determine process stability with run charts and other tools.
    • Determine the data shape with the already learnt graphical tools.
    • Select and use the appropriate tool to determine the p-value.
  • Perform hypothesis testing for a discrete Y and discrete X.
    • Use chi-square testing to determine whether or not to accept the null hypothesis or the alternative hypothesis.

IMPROVE

  • Propose a solution for project y through mathematical model or otherwise
  • Optimize the process
  • Confirm that the solution proposed meets the improvement goal
  • Identify resources required for full-scale implementation
  • Execute and standardize the process, provide training and documentation to the involved personnel
  • Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Other Methods
    • Brainstorming
    • Creative Thinking
    • Benchmarking
    • Alternate Selection Matrix
  • Basic Tools
    • Mistake Proofing
    • Visual Standards
    • Cause and Effect
    • Process map
    • Regression
    • Any of the tools, which can be applied to the project for improvement.

CONTROL

  • Do Mistake-proofing and develop Visual Standards for process control
  • Create Control charts
  • Develop a Control Plan
  • Review the Six Sigma- DMAIC process to check if there is any reason for failure of the project
  • Project closure and handover
